During a summit that was sponsored by TV9, Khushbu Sundar, who is a member of the National Commission for Women (NCW), was called to speak about the portrayal of women in the Indian entertainment industry. During the same time period, the actress brought up the topic of Animal’s success and voiced her concern on the manner in which viewers are reacting to films that depict extreme misogyny. In addition, the actress mentioned that her kids had requested that she not see the film starring Ranbir Kapoor because of the way it portrayed female roles.
The revelation that Khushbu Sundar’s children cautioned her against watching the film Animal, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, is accompanied by the statement that “We need to think of the mindset of the people who make it a success.”
In a statement that was made during the Summit of TV9, Khushbu Sundar stated that the perception of the audience is what is truly frightening her in instances like this. She went on to say, “We had a major issue with Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy,” and continued by saying, “If a misogynistic film like Animal continues to bring in moolah, becomes one of the biggest box office grossing films, we need to think about the mindset of the people who were responsible for making it a success.” However, I do not hold the filmmaker responsible since I believe that to him, success is the only thing that will matter.
The actress continued to express her dissatisfaction with the audience and added, “They are all young people.” They are well-educated young people who have expressed their admiration for the movie. And I thought to myself, “Guys, what exactly is going on in your heads?”
Following that, she went on to discuss the influence that portrayals of this nature have, and she mentioned that her children ended up viewing the movie. “We expose what is going on in society through the medium of film. Despite the fact that we talk about respecting women, individuals still watch films like these. It is not something that I would want my daughters to watch. On the other hand, they did watch it because they were curious about the story underneath it. When they returned, they pleaded with their mother known as Amma to refrain from watching the movie. In conclusion, she arrived to the question, “Where are we going when such films have a repeat audience?”
Animal continues to earn praise from a variety of sources, including Filmfare Awards, which are given to actors for their performances in the film. Despite this, the picture, which was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, continues to be a contentious topic of discussion due to the fact that it depicts numerous types of violence, including rape and abuse of women. As well as Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Triptii Dimri, amongst others, Ranbir Kapoor played the major part in the movie. Other notable actors also appeared in critical roles.
