During the 1990s, director David Dhawan and performer Govinda achieved a combination that was almost ideal in every way. The pair collaborated on over seventeen films, the majority of which were commercially successful. David recounted the period when he worked with Govinda and stated that he was the only person who could “handle” the actor. This particular conversation took place not too long ago. In addition, David was questioned over Govinda’s tardiness, and the director responded by stating that his work was always completed, without providing much further explanation. In addition to this, he mentioned how Salman Khan was not “keen” about working in Partner, and how Anil Kapoor had a degree of insecurity as a result of the relationship between Govinda and David.
David mentioned that Govinda was the “king of improvisation” in a conversation with Bollywood Bubble. He stated that this was beneficial to him. As well as a great number of other films, Raja Babu, Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Aankhen, and Saajan Chale Sasural were among the films in which the two collaborated. Not only that, but he also said that they had a “special language” that they used to communicate with one another on set in the event that a scene did not go according to plan. In my opinion, the phrase “rubber hai scene, prolonged, khincha hua hai” is fitting. “David, main pura scene ek shot mein deta hun,” Govinda would say, he recounted. “I do not know what happened.”
