In BANDISH BANDITS SEASON 2, two ex-lovers reunite amid musical chaos. Three months after Radhe Rathod (Ritwik Bhowmik) becomes ‘Sangeet Samrat’, his grandfather, Pandit Radhemohan (Naseeruddin Shah), dies. Radhe, his father Rajendra (Rajesh Tailang), mother Mohini (Sheeba Chadha), and uncle Devendra (Saurabh Nayyar) continue Pandit ji’s legacy. Tamanna (Shreya Chaudhary) deceives Radhe and gets into Kasauli’s Royal Himalayan Music School. Tamanna meets unconventional teacher Nandini Singh (Divya Dutta) and cute senior student Ayaan (Rohan Gurbaxani). Radhe’s manager, Arghya (Kunaal Roy Kapur), invites him to join Rage And Raga. Radhe turned down the offer. Kailash Mandrekar (Suyash Tilak) writes a book about Pandit ji and how he stopped Mohini from singing, humiliating the Rathod family. The students skip classes and cancel their concerts. Radhe accepts Rage And Raga out of necessity. Mahi (Paresh Pahuja) leads the band, which works differently from Radhe. Royal Himalayan Music School students and Rage And Raga enter the India Band Championship. Radhe leaves Mahi’s band because Mahi disrespects Pandit ji’s music. Radhe asks his family for help to enter the India Band Championship. The series continues with what happens next.
The excellent story by Atmika Didwania, Karan Singh Tyagi, Digant Patil, and Anand Tiwari adds new challenges and characters to the entertainment. Atmika Didwania, Karan Singh Tyagi, Digant Patil, and Anand Tiwari’s unhurried screenplay blends music and drama beautifully. However, the slow pacing may turn off some viewers. Several developments are unconvincing. Simple, sharp dialogues from Atmika Didwania, Karan Singh Tyagi, Digant Patil, and Anand Tiwari. Kunaal Roy Kapur’s one-liners are hilarious.
Nice direction by Anand Tiwari. This show is unique, and he maintains this. He keeps songs at the center of the story. Drama and confrontations keep viewers interested. How character dynamics change at different points is also intriguing. Rajendra’s confession that he accidentally leaked family secrets, Nandini’s entry, Radhe and Tamanna’s first championship meeting, Mahi’s outburst, Mohini and Digvijay’s (Atul Kulkarni) fight, the Bikaner sequence, etc. Moving and praiseworthy is the scene where the’students’ touch Mahi’s feet.
However, like Season 1, this season is too long. Short Season 1 episodes. Some episodes are 50 minutes or more, while the last two are over an hour. This is tedious and feels like two seasons. Scenes and tracks like Ananya’s (Aaliyah Qureishi) family track could have been cut. Pacing is inconsistent. The elimination round ends quickly, as if the makers wanted to move on. Radhe and Tamanna’s relationship is confusing, and their actions will confuse viewers. Finally, the Rathod family was boycotted for the book, but no one speaks out about Radhe’s championship appearance.
